Welcome to RHODES
an extra service of European City Guide / ECG

Information about RHODES Rhodes is the third largest Greek island and the sunniest place in Europe. It is the beautiful island of roses. Its capital, Rhodes Town, is situated at the island’s most northerly point, and is ringed by sea on the east and west. Rhodes Town combines the cosmopolitan character of a contemporary city with the picturesque character of a medieval town. A large part of Rhodes Town gives the impression of having been untouched by the passage of time. Rhodes is a very popular holiday destination. The Municipal Art Gallery and Aquarium are well worth visiting. The Aquarium has many interesting species of fauna and flora, and is mainly devoted to marine life. There are 12 tanks, varying from 1,000 to 5,000 litre capacity, with a 25,000 litre central circular tank and 15 small aquaria of 50-100 litre capacity each.
